Kick-off ELEXAI in Ljubljana
On June 3-5, the new ELEXAI officially kicked off in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The project is led by Jozef Stefan Institute‘s Simon Krek, who did an amazing job of bringing all 26 partners from all over Europe together, either in Ljubljana or online.
On the first day, the kick-off meeting focused on introducing the partners to each other, some old, some new, to each other, including University of Ljubljana, Instituut voor de Nederlandse Taal, Eesti Keele Instituut, Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, CLARIN ERIC, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, University of the Basque Country, University of Belgrade, Lexical Computing, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, ELTE Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics, Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache (IDS), Alliance for Language Technologies – ALT-EDIC, DARIAH ERIC, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Athena Research Center, Mykolas Romeris University, University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet), University of Galway, Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Department of Computational Linguistics (Institute for Bulgarian Language, BAS), and Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab (DSL).
On the second and third day, there was time to discuss the details of the project proposal and get technical with the details. In between all of this, there was of course time for very generous lunch breaks, coffee, dinners, and even a bit of sight seeing.
We set out to find our communal goals, and points where we can help each other out and collaborate on subprojects.
